Job Description

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

We are seeking a skilled Watch Officer to join our team in the AECCC. As a Watch Officer, you will be responsible for assisting routine information flows, preparing daily briefs for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), weekly reporting placemats, and incident notifications.

You will report directly to and be an understudy for the Senior Watch Officer and during Election mode will act as the Senior Watch Officer upon the establishment of a second shift. A key responsibility of this role will be to support the Senior Watch Officer and Assistant Directors by providing information analysis, processing NOC communications, and preparing reports for situational awareness throughout the agency.

  • Proven ability to draw on information from diverse sources and offer solutions and support to the leadership of the AECCC.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in pressure situations in a fast-moving and variable environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to change in a positive and flexible manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the proven ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and articulate manner and work collaboratively including across a geographically dispersed network.
  • Proven ability to act with discretion and integrity in managing sensitive and confidential information.
