Job Description

We are seeking a professional to join our team in the role of Impairment Benefits Specialist. In this position, you will play a critical role in proactively managing, assessing, and determining impairment benefit claims.

You will be responsible for navigating the requirements of various legislation and guidelines, including the Accident Compensation Act 1985, the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, and WorkSafe guidelines.

Your duties will include managing disputes related to impairment benefits, ensuring all actions are completed within legislative, policy, and performance timeframes. This requires strong attention to detail, confident decision-making, and a focus on achieving fair and timely outcomes for injured workers.

Your Responsibilities
  • Manage impairment benefit claims from start to finish, including liability assessments, drafting medical panel submissions, arranging Independent Impairment Assessor reports, calculating entitlements, making determinations, reviewing responses, and processing payments.
  • Work closely with Case Managers and key stakeholders to ensure claims are proactively managed in line with legislation, policy, and timeframes.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve operational procedures, ensuring updates are communicated clearly to the business and aligned with continuous improvement practices.
  • Provide timely reporting, information, and responses to internal and external queries, including those from WorkSafe and legal service providers.
About You
  • You should have accreditation through WorkSafe AMA Guide training with a thorough understanding of AMA4 and its application to Victorian workers compensation claims.
  • You should have proven experience in impairment benefit management, assessment, and determination, with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • You should have a solid understanding of Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes, including WIC and medical panel procedures.
  • You should have comprehensive knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, particularly sections relating to impairment benefits.
  • You should have strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex claims and meet strict legislative and policy timeframes.
