About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of New South Wales as a Strategic Communications Officer - Division of Societal Impact, Equity. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Division's efforts in making positive and lasting impact on society, promoting equity and social justice, and driving engagement activities that enhance the University's reputation as a key contributor to society through its research, teaching, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice on internal and external policies, leveraging data and analytics to inform decisions and drive innovation in communications spanning publications, web content, and communications materials on diverse topics, including policy, sustainability, social cohesion, and equity.
  • Support the Division's Office across a wide range of university and divisional priorities, including creating material on higher education policy, access and equity for partners, stakeholders, media, and external and internal communications.
  • Manage projects aligned with the Division, ensuring a coordinated approach that aligns with the objectives and strategies of the University.
  • Ensure the operations, strategies, and businesses of the Division are consistent with the overarching Strategy of the University.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in Societal Impact, ideally within higher education, to comfortably operate autonomously in this role.
  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated expertise in writing and producing publications, web content, and communications materials.
  • Superior networking and interpersonal skills with an ability to influence.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in a high-performing team in a large, complex organization.
  • Ability to apply judgment, creativity, and flexibility to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches and to solve complex problems.
  • High-level organizational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy, working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365, Visio, and social channels and platforms.
