Role Overview:

Casual Youth Officers in the NSW Government play a vital role in supporting young people in custody. This position is based at the Broken Hill Police Station and offers an attractive hourly rate of $33.79 plus casual loading.

About the Position:

This role requires direct supervision and care of young people from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for escorting young people to court or Youth Justice Centres, working on-call as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality supervision and support to young people
  • Evaluate and respond to challenging situations with young people
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and incidents
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Comply with all relevant policies and procedures

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following:

  • Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid visa with unlimited working rights
  • A Provisional 2 NSW Driver's Licence
  • The ability to obtain a 'Provide First Aid' Certificate (HLTAID011)
  • A current NSW Working with Children Check Clearance
  • The capacity to complete a 5-day training program and undergo a National Background Police Check, Medical Assessment, and Fitness Test
