About the Role

CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay is a leading Non-Profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and young people. We are currently seeking a skilled Youth Support Specialist to join our team in Sydney Metro.

This permanent part-time position involves working in our homes for children living in Out of Home Care settings, aged between 11 and 18. As a Youth Support Specialist, you will operate on a 24/7 rotating roster, consisting of morning, afternoon, and night shifts, including sleepovers and awake shifts as needed. You will know your shifts two weeks in advance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide therapeutic support to young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties and those who have experienced significant trauma and adversity.
  • Develop and implement behaviour support strategies to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical and Case Management teams to ensure comprehensive support for each young person.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting, with a deep commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children and young people.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Community Services or Youth Work (or be willing to enroll and complete a Diploma of Community Services or Youth Work, or relevant qualifications of Diploma Level or above).
  • Prior experience working in a Youth Worker position is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with young people and utilise behaviour support strategies.
  • Good understanding of trauma-informed care and consistency/stability in the lives of children and young people.
  • A valid NSW Driver's licence and your own insured vehicle.
  • A Working With Children Check and Criminal History Check.
  • A Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain before commencement.
