About the Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Aboriginal Cultural Mentor and Support Officer to join our team in Charlestown, NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality engagement with local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community, services and organisations as well as supporting staff in engaging with local communities in their region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster Meaningful Interaction
    • Provide quality engagement with local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community, services and organisations as well as supporting staff in engaging with local communities in their region
    • Foster meaningful interaction through initial and ongoing participant appointments, guiding them to achieve their goals and unique program objectives
    • Identify and address barriers to employment through referral to relevant community support services and provide ongoing mentoring
    • Facilitate job placements with local employers for job-ready participants and provide continuous support to ensure lasting employment success
About You

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who can build engagement and connection with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and agencies. The ideal candidate will have a minimum Certificate III qualification in fields such as Employment Services, Community Services or other relevant areas, or be willing to pursue a relevant qualification.
