Senior Aboriginal Heritage Professional

The position of Aboriginal Heritage Consultant involves overseeing and leading a team to deliver Aboriginal heritage related projects, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Leading project delivery, including project planning, fieldwork management, budgeting, and timelines.
- Engaging with clients to understand their requirements, providing expert advice on heritage matters, and developing tailored solutions that meet client needs while adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Effective stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders relevant to the role.
- Presenting technical findings and relaying information to non-technical individuals.
- Well-versed in heritage legislation, regulations, and guidelines, applying this knowledge to assess significance and develop conservation strategies.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff, helping them develop skills and expertise in heritage management and consultancy.
This consultant will have significant experience and expertise in Aboriginal heritage management and conservation. The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder engagement skills, experience in providing advice and advocacy on heritage matters to clients, government agencies, and community groups.
To be successful, you should have:
- A degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience for the principal role and 5+ years for the senior role.
- Preferably experience in a consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and associated regulations and guidelines, with experience in NSW highly regarded.
- Demonstrate leadership experience, including project management and team coordination.
- Interest and experience with client relationship management.
- An Australian Drivers license (ideally with 4WD experience).
