Job Title:

A seasoned Heritage Professional is sought to lead our Newcastle-based team in delivering Aboriginal heritage projects.

About the Role

This key position involves overseeing and leading project teams, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Aboriginal heritage management and conservation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading project delivery, including planning and coordination of fieldwork, budget management, and timeline adherence.
  • Engaging with clients to understand their requirements, provide expert advice on heritage matters, and develop tailored solutions.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Presentation of technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Application of knowledge on heritage legislation, regulations, and guidelines for significance assessment, conservation strategies, and impact mitigation.
  • Mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering their skills and expertise in heritage management and consultancy.
Requirements
  • Degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience for Principal role and 5+ years for Senior role.
  • Consultancy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of State and Commonwealth heritage legislation, regulations, and guidelines, with NSW experience highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including project management and team coordination.
  • Interest and experience in client relationship management.
  • Australian Driver's license (ideally with 4WD experience).
