About the Role:
Aboriginal Heritage ConsultantWe are seeking an experienced and collaborative Aboriginal Heritage Consultant to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our heritage team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality services to our clients.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience and expertise in Aboriginal heritage management and conservation. You will be responsible for overseeing, leading and working with a team to deliver Aboriginal heritage related projects, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the delivery of heritage projects, including project teams, fieldwork planning, budgeting, and timeline management.
- Engaging with clients to understand their project requirements, provide expert advice on heritage and archaeological matters, and develop tailored solutions that meet client needs while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Effective stakeholder engagement with both internal and external stakeholders relevant to the role.
- Presentation of technical findings and relaying information to non-technical persons, including clients and community.
- Well-versed in heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines, and application of this knowledge to assess significance, develop conservation strategies, and mitigate impacts on heritage and archaeological values.
- Mentorship and guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and expertise in heritage and archaeological management and consultancy.

Requirements:
- A degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology or related field.
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience for the principal role and 5+ years for the Senior role.
- Preferably experience in a consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth heritage legislation and associated regulations and guidelines, with experience in NSW highly regarded.
- Demonstrate leadership experience, including project management and team coordination.
- Interest and experience with client relationship management.
- Australian Drivers licence (ideally with 4WD experience).
