Lead Aboriginal Heritage Consultant

This is a key leadership role contributing to the success of our projects in Aboriginal heritage management and conservation.
Main Responsibilities:- Leading project delivery, overseeing teams, planning fieldwork, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring project goals are met.
- Engaging with clients to understand their project requirements, providing expert advice on heritage and archaeological matters, and developing tailored solutions that meet client needs while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Effective stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders relevant to the role.
- Presenting technical findings and relaying information to non-technical persons, including clients and community.
- Well-versed in heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines, and applying this knowledge to assess significance, develop conservation strategies, and mitigate impacts on heritage and archaeological values.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff, helping to develop their skills and expertise in heritage and archaeological management and consultancy.
The Aboriginal Heritage Specialist will provide expert advice on Aboriginal heritage matters and conduct a range of projects including cultural heritage impact assessments, conservation, and policy development.
Main Responsibilities:- Conducting a range of projects including cultural heritage impact assessments, conservation, and policy development.
- Conducting field surveys and investigations to document and assess cultural heritage and archaeological resources using techniques such as archaeological excavation, archival research, field surveys, and remote sensing technologies.
- Evaluating the potential impacts of development projects on cultural heritage and archaeological resources, considering factors such as project design, construction activities, and potential changes to the landscape.
- Complying with relevant heritage and archaeological legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
- Liaising with stakeholders including government agencies, developers, planners, and heritage organisations.
- Developing strategies and measures to mitigate adverse impacts on cultural heritage and archaeological resources such as archaeological excavations, monitoring, heritage interpretation, and community engagement programs.
- Preparing technical reports, assessments, and documentation summarizing findings, recommendations, and proposed mitigation measures.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong stakeholder engagement experience, the ability to provide expert advice and advocacy on heritage and archaeological matters to clients, government agencies, and community groups, as well as the ability to prepare and review high-quality technical reports.
