**About the Role**
Monash University is seeking volunteer members for its Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) to review research activities involving animals.
The AEC is comprised of members across various categories, including veterinarians, scientists, animal welfarists, and lay members, bringing valuable perspectives to the review process.
As a member of the AEC, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals used for research and teaching at Monash University.
Key Responsibilities
- Review research projects involving animals to ensure they meet the highest standards of animal welfare and scientific merit
- Participate in AEC discussions to ensure robust review of projects and effective operation of the Committee
- Attend meetings in-person and contribute to the review process
Requirements
- Category A (Veterinarian): Qualifications in veterinary science and relevant experience
- Category C (Animal Welfare): Demonstrable commitment to and established experience in furthering animal welfare, with no employment or association with Monash University
