Wildlife Animal Welfare Representative

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced wildlife animal welfare representative to join our Animal Ethics Committee as a Category C member.
As a key member of our committee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals for scientific purposes at Monash University.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in furthering the welfare of animals, preferably in relation to wildlife and native species. They will also possess a good knowledge of general animal welfare principles and an understanding of societal attitudes towards animal treatment.
You will be required to attend meetings in person, participate in discussions to ensure robust review of projects, and effectively operate within the committee framework.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in AEC meetings and related processes, contributing to the review of projects and activities involving animals.
- Undertake initial and ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Read, interpret, and comment on meeting materials using an online system.
- Collaborate with other committee members to ensure effective operation and decision-making.
- An honorarium to support costs associated with performing your role and attending meetings.
- A working lunch at in-person meetings.
- Training support for your role as an AEC member.

- Computer skills and ability to read and interpret meeting materials.
This role is based at our Clayton campus, located near Melbourne, Australia.
