About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) at Monash University. As an AEC member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals for scientific purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review research activities involving animals to ensure they meet the highest standards of animal welfare and scientific merit.
  • Participate in AEC discussions to ensure robust review of projects and related activities.
  • Attend meetings in-person (note: overseas applicants will not be considered).
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A qualification in veterinary science for Category A members, or a demonstrable commitment to and established experience in furthering the welfare of animals for Category C members.
  • Specialised knowledge of animal welfare, treatment, and advances in care for specific animal species.
  • Ability to provide information on housing needs, drugs, procedures, and post-procedure care.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comment on meeting materials using an online system.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
