**Wildlife and Conservation Welfare Expert Opportunity**
Monash University's School of Biological Sciences is seeking a volunteer wildlife animal welfare representative to join the Animal Ethics Committee.
The committee supports research and teaching activities designed to address key problems in the life sciences by reviewing wildlife and conservation projects that involve animals.
Projects cover a diverse range of species, including small fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.
The representative will contribute their knowledge and expertise to the world of research at Monash University.

**The Role**
As a wildlife/conservation welfare representative, you will play an important role in ensuring the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals used for research and teaching at Monash University.
The representative must have established experience in furthering the welfare of animals, preferably in relation to wildlife and native species.
The representative must also have a good knowledge of the general context of animal welfare and a general understanding of the ways in which society considers it acceptable to treat animals.
**Requirements**
To be successfully considered for this opportunity, you will:
- Have established experience in furthering the welfare of animals.
- Accept that ethical experiments using animals can be carried out, provided there is no viable alternative.
- Demonstrate the ability and enthusiasm to contribute to AEC meetings and related processes.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to read, interpret, and comment on meeting materials.
- Participate in AEC discussions to ensure robust review of projects and related activities.
- Be able to attend meetings in-person.
