Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Animal Ethics Expert to join our team at Monash University. As a member of our Animal Ethics Committee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the ethical, humane and responsible care and use of animals used for research and teaching.

Your Key Responsibilities
As an Animal Ethics Expert, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating research activities involving animals to ensure compliance with the Australian Code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes;
- Providing expert advice on animal welfare and ethics-related matters;
- Collaborating with other committee members to review project applications and provide recommendations;
- Participating in ongoing training and education to maintain expertise in animal ethics and welfare;
- Attending meetings and contributing to discussions to ensure robust review of projects and effective operation of the Committee;
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A qualification in veterinary science or a related field;
- Experience relevant to the research and teaching activities of Monash University, or the ability to acquire relevant knowledge;
- Specialised knowledge of animal welfare, treatment, and advances in care for specific animal species;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to read, interpret and comment on meeting materials, including project applications;
- A commitment to upholding high standards of animal welfare and ethics;
