Risk Management Specialist for Regulatory Compliance

Our client, a prominent global financial services firm, is seeking an experienced Risk Management Specialist to support the delivery of regulatory compliance projects in Melbourne or Sydney.

As part of the risk and compliance project team, you will work closely with experienced professionals to deliver remediation risk programs and activities. Your main stakeholders will include the Executive Team, Senior Leadership Team, Delivery Teams, and other internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and evaluate existing operational processes to deploy risk controls and mitigants
  • Engage and liaise professionally and collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders to understand business needs and advise on future state
  • Gather and process data to identify process performance areas
  • Conduct gap analysis and present summary of findings
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis, process mapping, and workflow documentation to identify opportunities for standardisation and optimisation
  • Design workflow and process strategies to improve business performance
  • Create and present process reports for approval
  • Oversee the implementation of revised company processes and workflows
  • Monitor the efficiency of updated workflows

Required Experience:

  • 5-7 or more years of experience in risk management within Australia's financial services/APRA-regulated entities, including business partnering roles
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Finance, Risk, or related field
  • Proven experience in process improvement
  • Strong experience working on regulatory compliance-driven environments and projects
  • Experience working on compliance-focused projects highly advantageous
  • Driven by commercial acumen and the ability to think strategically to identify and mitigate risks to processes as well as opportunities

Additional Experience:

  • Data Analytics (i.e., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Exposure to first line/second line/operational roles in Asset Servicing/Fund Administration/Capital Markets/Cash Payments operations highly regarded
  • Good knowledge of the latest industry trends and regulatory changes

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role is a 12-month contract based in either Melbourne or Sydney.
