The Public Health Sector Workplace Relations Expert will lead the coordination of industrial relations matters and enterprise bargaining activities. This role involves providing strategic advice on a broad range of industrial relations issues, identifying emerging risks and developing solutions to promote positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Industrial Relations Advice: Provide expert advice on government policies, legislation, and industrial relations initiatives to support effective industrial relations outcomes.
  • Enterprise Bargaining Management: Lead and contribute to the management of enterprise bargaining activities, including negotiations with unions and employers, research, and stakeholder liaison.
  • Complex Investigations and Advocacy: Conduct complex investigations and advocate in industrial tribunals as required.
  • Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively with legal and industrial relations consultants to problem-solve and achieve effective outcomes.

Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic input to the interpretation of government policies, legislation, and industrial relations initiatives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures designed to implement industrial agreements and legislation.
  • Lead and/or contribute to the management and conduct of enterprise bargaining activities.
  • Undertake complex and sensitive investigations on industrial relations issues.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or experience in industrial relations, law, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Working Arrangements

  • This role is organisationally located within the Health Sector Industrial Relations Unit of the Workforce Relations and Engagement Branch.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undertake alternative duties within the broader branch.
