About This Position

We are seeking a reliable and caring Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of the household, you will be responsible for providing emotional support and care to a 42-year-old single mother and her 7-year-old son.

The family has multiple needs, including assisting with daily tasks, meal preparation, and managing medical conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Depression, Anxiety, and Ectodermal Dysplasia. The client's son has Autism (Level 2) and requires additional support and patience from the successful candidate.

As a Support Worker, you will work an average of 10 hours per week, with some split shifts, and will be required to transport the client's son to and from school, doctor/specialist appointments, shopping, and social outings using the client's vehicle.

You will also be responsible for performing light domestic duties, gardening, and assisting with pet care. A dedicated cleaner visits weekly, but you will need to complete some tasks in between appointments and fill in gaps between services.

Assisting with care for the family pets includes feeding, picking up waste, administering medication, and going for walks. You must ensure consistency of support throughout your employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing emotional support and care to the client and her son
  • Assisting with daily tasks, meal preparation, and managing medical conditions
  • Transporting the client's son to and from school, doctor/specialist appointments, shopping, and social outings
  • Performing light domestic duties, gardening, and assisting with pet care

Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience in a similar role
  • A First Aid Certificate is desirable
  • Working With Children Check, Police Check, Unrestricted NSW Driver's License, and NDIS Worker Screening Check are all required
