Academic Language Specialist

Position Overview: English Editor
We seek detail-oriented and committed professionals who possess a profound understanding of the English language and the intricacies of academic writing to assist researchers in publishing their findings. English Editors play a crucial role in enhancing academic research by refining the language of peer-reviewed articles to meet publication standards.
Successful candidates will undergo a probationary period during which they will receive comprehensive training from seasoned editors, with opportunities to broaden their expertise in various areas thereafter.
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Krakow, Poland, offering a starting salary of 9000 PLN per month, with potential increases of 5% for non-PhD holders or 10% for PhD holders upon successful completion of the contractual period.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit scholarly articles across a wide range of topics submitted to MDPI's journals to ensure they meet publication-ready standards.
- Utilize expertise in the English language and the manuscript's context to enhance clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy, preserving the author's original voice.
- Ensure compliance with MDPI's editorial guidelines.
- Meet stringent deadlines and consistently achieve targets.
- Engage in additional responsibilities, such as training colleagues within and outside the department and editing corporate communications.
Essential Criteria:
- A bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Native proficiency in English.
- Experience in editing, translation, or publishing.
- Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an international team.
- Valid work authorization in Poland.
- Professional background in academic research or publishing.
- A master's degree, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
- Familiarity with LaTeX typesetting.
- Experience in a corporate office setting.
