Position Overview: English Editor

We seek detail-oriented and committed professionals who possess a profound understanding of the English language and the intricacies of academic writing to assist researchers in disseminating their findings. English Editors enhance academic work by refining the language of peer-reviewed articles to meet publication standards.

Successful candidates will undergo a probationary period during which they will receive in-house training from seasoned editors, after which they will have opportunities to broaden their responsibilities and develop expertise in various areas.

This is a full-time, in-office role. The starting salary is competitive, with increases available based on qualifications and successful completion of the contractual period.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Edit scholarly articles across a wide range of topics submitted to MDPI's journals to ensure they meet publication-ready standards.
  2. Utilize knowledge of the English language and the manuscript's context to enhance clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy while preserving the author's original voice.
  3. Ensure that manuscripts comply with MDPI's editorial guidelines.
  4. Meet stringent deadlines and achieve targets consistently.
  5. Engage in additional tasks, such as training colleagues within and outside the department and editing corporate communications.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Criteria:
  1. A bachelor's degree in any field.
  2. Native proficiency in English.
  3. Experience in editing, translation, or publishing.
  4. Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
  5. Meticulous attention to detail.
  6. Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an international team.
  7. Valid work authorization.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  1. Professional background in academic research or publishing.
  2. A master's degree, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
  3. Familiarity with LaTeX typesetting.
  4. Experience in a corporate office setting.
