Position Overview: English Editor

We seek detail-oriented and committed professionals with a robust understanding of the English language and the subtleties of academic writing to assist scholars in disseminating their research. English Editors enhance academic research by refining the language of peer-reviewed articles to meet publication standards.

Successful candidates will undergo a probationary period during which they will receive in-house training from an experienced editor, with opportunities to broaden their role and gain expertise in new areas thereafter.

This is a full-time, in-office role. The starting salary is competitive, with increments based on qualifications after the successful completion of the contractual period.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Edit scholarly articles across a wide range of subjects submitted to MDPI's journals to ensure they meet publication-ready standards.
  2. Utilize knowledge of the English language and the manuscript's context to enhance clarity, consistency, and grammatical accuracy, while preserving the author's original voice.
  3. Ensure adherence to MDPI's editorial guidelines.
  4. Meet stringent deadlines and achieve targets consistently.
  5. Engage in additional responsibilities, such as training colleagues within and outside the department and editing corporate materials.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Requirements:
  1. A bachelor's degree in any field.
  2. Native proficiency in English.
  3. Experience in editing, translating, or publishing.
  4. Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  5. Meticulous attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an international team.
  7. Valid work authorization.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  1. Professional background in academic research or publishing.
  2. A master's degree, PhD, or equivalent qualification.
  3. Familiarity with LaTeX.
  4. Experience in an office setting.
