
Culturally Sensitive Family Support Specialist

Role Overview:
This role involves working with Aboriginal families to provide responsive and flexible child-focused and family-centred home and community-based support services.
About the Position:
The successful applicant will require a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, including history, kinship systems, family structures, spirituality, values, beliefs, behavioural expectations, and family and community obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally appropriate parenting support to Aboriginal families with children up to five years of age.
- Contribute to improving health, development, and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal children and families by supporting families to engage with health services.
- Provide consultancy and advice to team members on Aboriginal cultural matters.
Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of Aboriginal cultures.
- Able to engage with Aboriginal communities in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Skills to intervene in crisis situations and assist families to develop problem-solving skills.
