Job Title: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer About the Role:The Indigenous Liaison Service aims to provide support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and Communities across all facilities in West Moreton Health. As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for improving the delivery of culturally appropriate mental health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, including supporting accessible and equitable health outcomes in the context of meeting individual needs. The role requires you to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within a health-related context and have a clear understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, protocols and health-related procedures. Key Responsibilities:1. Provide direct support and assistance to both Clinicians within the Mental Health and Specialised Services Division and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in-patients, families and Communities across the West Moreton region.2. Improve the delivery of culturally appropriate mental health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, including supporting accessible and equitable health outcomes in the context of meeting individual needs.3. Work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within a health-related context and have a clear understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, protocols and health-related procedures.4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and Communities. Requirements:1. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and orally), including preparing complex reports.2. Proven ability to sensitively communicate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds while advocating on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly within a complex healthcare environment.3. Expertise and knowledge of relevant ICT systems for both patient-specific information and relevant statistical data, inclusive of collection, collation and reporting towards improving Indigenous Health outcomes.4.
