Live-In Youth Mentor Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Live-In Youth Mentor. This rewarding role involves providing support and guidance to young people aged 16-18 years, helping them develop independent living skills and build confidence.

The successful candidate will live in a house with two young people and play a key role in their daily lives, assisting with household tasks, managing daily routines and commitments, and promoting healthy relationships and lifestyle choices.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and gain valuable experience in the youth community service sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To reside in a household with young people and provide emotional support and guidance
  • To assist with developing interpersonal skills, healthy relationships, and lifestyle choices through positive reinforcement
  • To liaise regularly with the Senior Lead Tenant Practitioner and Support Worker on issues affecting young people or households
  • To maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of young people and other mentors

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A basic understanding of adolescent development and behavior
  • The ability to build strong rapport with young people and engage with them consistently
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Currently engaged in education or employment and eager to make a difference in the lives of young people
