As a mental health support professional, you will play a pivotal role in empowering individuals to live independently and achieve their personal goals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Daily living skills: Support individuals in organizing their daily lives, including planning, cleaning, meal planning, and shopping.
- Social support: Facilitate interactions with friends, family, and the community to help clients stay socially connected.
- Communication assistance: Make information accessible for individuals with communication difficulties.
- Community engagement: Encourage participation in community activities to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
- Health management: Coordinate with healthcare professionals to manage medical needs.
- Financial guidance: Assist individuals in managing their finances and budgeting.
- Goal setting: Support individuals in setting and achieving both short- and long-term goals.
- Emotional support: Offer a compassionate presence and provide guidance to build confidence and self-esteem.
Required Skills:
- Compassion and empathy: Demonstrate genuine understanding of each person's unique circumstances.
- Effective communication: Ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication styles.
- Organization and planning: Help clients manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Care procedures: Familiarity with care procedures and medication management.
- Problem-solving: Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NDIS worker screening check: Must have a current NDIS screening check or be willing to obtain one.
- Mental health certificate: Completion of a recognized mental health certificate is preferred.
- Prior experience: Prior experience in mental health support or a similar field is strongly preferred.
- Individual support certification: A current certificate in individual support and first aid is required.
