About the Role

The Peer Support Worker plays a vital role in empowering women dealing with family violence challenges. Through peer support, transformative learning, and compassionate emotional guidance, you create a safe environment for women in refuge accommodations and beyond.

Key Requirements

To succeed, you will have:

  • Lived experience of family violence, with a strong recovery plan and relevant supports in place, and a willingness to share and draw on that experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with women and children facing complex challenges related to family violence, homelessness, health, and mental health.
  • Experience in a peer support role, preferably in a community services or not-for-profit setting.
  • Understanding of feminism, intersectionality, and anti-oppression as organizational culture foundations.
