About the Role

This position provides specialized therapeutic counselling and advocacy services to children, young people, and their families who have experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and/or domestic violence.

The role of the CPCS clinician is complex, with a focus on maintaining the child or young person in their family where possible, preventing recurrence of abuse, and assisting families to address the impacts and effects of the abuse and neglect.

Counselling will be the core task of the position, with significant responsibilities including coordination of health service delivery to the child and advocacy for client interests within the child protection response.

CPCS clinicians also provide consultation, support, and education and training for health workers on child protection issues and concerns.
