About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker to join our team at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with families, community members, and other stakeholders to develop and implement safety plans and risk assessments.
  • Provide support and guidance to families to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, community members, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in court processes, including the preparation of court documents and attendance at court hearings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of child protection services.
Requirements
  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification in a field such as social work, child protection, or a related field.
  • At least two years' experience working in a child protection or related field, preferably with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families, community members, and other stakeholders.
  • A valid driver's license and a paid working with children clearance number.
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality, confirming that you are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent and that you identify as being Aboriginal.
