About the Role

As a Sales Development Representative in Zeller's Sales team, you will be encouraged to adopt a curious and proactive approach, demonstrating persistence and a self-starting attitude to help us capture the market of Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Being a Zeller Sales Development Representative is not about aggressive selling. We believe that establishing a robust and enduring relationship with business owners is crucial for success. Our clients vary widely — from family-owned businesses to multi-location franchises and large-scale events. Each day will present new challenges, and you will excel at going the extra mile to support a diverse range of clients, championing their needs and advocating for their success.

This Sales Development Representative position serves as an entry-level opportunity within the Zeller Sales team. Your responsibilities will encompass qualifying incoming leads to pass to Account Executives on our team, as well as developing and managing your own pipeline of SMB opportunities that you will qualify, nurture, negotiate, and close. This hybrid role is ideal for a motivated and ambitious individual seeking the next step in their career with one of Australia's most exciting fintech companies.

To succeed in this role, you must comprehend the varied business needs of our clients and effectively utilize conversations to identify their challenges and position Zeller as the optimal solution. You will need to be agile and resilient, adept at handling objections with professionalism. You will become knowledgeable in everything from payment systems to technology, leveraging your deep understanding of how Zeller's platform serves as the best solution for growing Australian business owners.

Role Responsibilities

  • Engage in prospecting small, medium, and large businesses through various outbound lead generation methods, including cold calling, email outreach, referrals, and more, supplemented by a growing inbound lead pipeline.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and requirements of business owners, crafting the appropriate Zeller solution to exceed their expectations.
  • Meticulously manage your leads and deals pipeline within the Hubspot Sales Hub, maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Oversee the entire sales cycle, including planning, cold calling, qualifying, gathering information, conducting due diligence, and closing new deals to surpass your individual targets.
  • Simplify complex merchant banking and service requirements into clear, concise, and appealing solutions.
  • Make a remarkable first impression for Zeller's clients by utilizing storytelling, case studies, pitch presentations, and industry insights to demonstrate how we can be the ideal banking partner for them.
  • Develop commercially viable deals across a variety of customer scenarios, sectors, and intricate economic considerations.
  • Stay informed about trends in SMEs, technology, fintech, payments, competitors, and industry developments relevant to your clients.
  • Collaborate with Zeller team members across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Operations to relay customer feedback effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in a BDR/SDR role, with a proven track record of meeting quarterly or activity-based objectives.
  • A genuine curiosity and passion for understanding people and their businesses, enabling you to inspire and share their stories.
  • Hands-on experience with various prospecting techniques, including cold calls, email outreach, and door-to-door selling.
  • Proficient experience in qualification, identifying target customers, assessing buyer interest, and recognizing decision-making processes and buying signals.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently or remotely from your team when necessary.
  • A developing commercial mindset that understands deal economics and recognizes favorable and unfavorable commercial terms.
  • Excellent written, verbal, conversational, and listening skills — you are genuinely curious and enjoy engaging with new people.
  • Experience with software tools such as Hubspot Sales Hub, Google Suite, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a highly collaborative work style.
  • Persistent in the face of challenges, not shying away from difficult discussions.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and oral presentation skills.
  • A competitive spirit and a desire to grow and succeed.
