About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Welfare Specialist to join our team at SDN Children's Services. As a key member of our Family Preservation team, you will work closely with children and families to provide support and guidance in achieving positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with 7-11 families, providing regular face-to-face contact and ensuring practice is informed by child protection risks and family progress.
  • Work within the service provision guidelines and Thriving Families, SDN's Family Centred Framework, focusing on child wellbeing outcomes.
  • Engage with families in a way that aligns with Thriving Families behaviours and principles.
  • Provide flexible and responsive services to families, with visits based on need.
  • Make independent decisions relating to day-to-day work with children and families, with reference to the Team Leader as needed.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work or a related field, with experience working in community services and/or child and family sectors. You will have a demonstrated commitment to child-focused practice, a sound understanding of child protection practices, and the ability to effectively assess, prioritize, and manage risks to child wellbeing.

You will also possess excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills, with experience working with a range of stakeholders, including schools, NDIS providers, government, and community groups.
