Leading a Team of Experts in Clinical Virology Pathology Services

We are seeking a permanent full-time Senior Scientist to lead our Virology Section in the Microbiology Laboratory at Westmead Hospital. As part of our team, you will be responsible for managing scientific, technical, and support staff, as well as overseeing the quality, cost, and operational integrity of the Section.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor Degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with relevant subjects in pathology, microbiology, and virology/molecular microbiology from a recognized tertiary institution. They should also possess excellent leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills, including report writing and statistical evaluation of scientific data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Virology Section, including testing and associated activities, logistics, and human resource management.
  • Oversee the quality, cost, and operational integrity of the Section, ensuring regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.
