Lead Virology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to lead our Virology team. As a key member of our unit, you will provide expert clinical virology pathology services for NSW Health and justice systems.
Main Responsibilities- Manage scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the Virology team.
- Oversight of quality, cost and operational integrity of the team, regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.
- Human resource, business and resource management.
- Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification with subjects relevant to pathology, microbiology and virology/molecular microbiology.
- Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of electronic-based Quality Management Systems.
We operate more than 60 laboratories and about 200 collection centres across NSW, conducting over 60 million tests per annum. Our network of pathologists is supported by scientists, technicians and support staff who provide timely and accurate results to inform patient treatment.
