Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the Virology team in the Microbiology Laboratory. The successful applicant will manage staff, oversee testing and associated activities, logistics, quality, cost, and operational integrity.
About the Opportunity:
NW Health Pathology is Australia's largest public pathology service, operating more than 60 laboratories and around 200 collection centres across NSW. We conduct over 60 million tests per annum and encourage our staff to be involved in research and innovation opportunities to help create safer, healthier communities.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a professional with a Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology, microbiology and virology/molecular microbiology from a recognised tertiary institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage scientific, technical and support staff
- Oversee testing and associated activities, logistics
- Ensure quality, cost, and operational integrity of the team
- Develop, scientifically evaluate and implement new virological diagnostic assays or processes
