Senior Scientific Leader of Virology Division

This is a permanent full-time Senior Hospital Scientist in Charge of Section - Virology position.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the Virology Section in the Microbiology Laboratory at Westmead Hospital.
- Provide expert clinical virology pathology services for NSW Health and justice systems.
- Manage scientific, technical and support staff, testing and associated activities and logistics for the Virology Section.
- Oversee the quality, cost and operational integrity of the Section, regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.
- Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
- Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems, including supervision of electronic-based Quality Management Systems.
- Extensive high-level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of operation and maintenance of analytical equipment.
