About the Role
The Australian Public Service (APS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategic Policy Specialist to join our team in the Defence Export Controls Branch.
As a key member of the Transformation, Policy and Technology Directorate, you will play a critical role in delivering best practice policy support, focusing on implementing the Defence Trade Controls Amendment Bill 2023 and addressing recommendations from the 2023 Review of the Defence Trade Controls Act.
You will have the opportunity to work on challenging policy activities that have a real impact on the future of Australia's Defence export control system. Your work will be driven by Government priorities and ensure that stakeholders are able to meet their obligations under Australia's export control laws.
Key responsibilities will include undertaking complex policy research, analysis and development to deliver informed and timely outcomes for the DEC Branch. You will also be trusted to use your skills and experience to develop creative solutions to challenging problems, with support from the rest of your team.
In addition, you will have the chance to work with internal and external stakeholders from across government, industry, higher education and research sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to diversify your skills and experience, setting you up for success in future roles in Defence or the APS.

Your Skills and Experience

About the Position
This is a full-time position based in Russell, ACT. The salary range is $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation.
