Strategic Defence Infrastructure Expert

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Defence Infrastructure Expert to join our team. As an Assistant Director, you will play a key role in the planning, development, and delivery of major capital facilities and infrastructure projects across the Defence estate.
Job DescriptionAs a Strategic Defence Infrastructure Expert, you will be responsible for:
- Program and project management for the planning, development, and delivery of major capital facilities and infrastructure projects.
- Strategic policy advice and estate planning, including compliance with legislative requirements and alignment with government policies and reforms.
- Contamination management and remediation, including PFAS and other contaminants.
- Program delivery, including management of national programs such as the National Unexploded Ordnance Program and the Noise and Flight Path Monitoring System.
- Professional engineering activities, including policy development, design reviews, provision of advice, and governance and assurance activities across various disciplines.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, including setting clear performance standards, managing workloads, and mentoring and developing team members.
- Excellent time management, prioritization of competing demands, and sound judgment.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to liaise, collaborate, and build productive stakeholder relationships.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
This role offers a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $123,000 - $155,000 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.
