Domestic Violence Support Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of women and children experiencing domestic violence.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team providing immediate crisis intervention, comprehensive safety planning, and crisis counselling to women across Queensland. You will also provide general information, referral pathways, and practical assistance appropriate to the caller's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver timely and effective crisis intervention responses, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community agencies and service providers to ensure seamless referral pathways for clients.
  • Participate in regular training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as trauma-informed practice, conflict resolution, and engagement practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of database entries and maintenance tasks, adhering to quality standards and client confidentiality requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a related field, such as social work, case management, or advocacy.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, including a degree in social work, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Well-developed knowledge of domestic and family violence, including its causes, effects, and dynamics.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
