Domestic Violence Support Specialist
Bella's Sanctuary provides a safe haven for women and children to heal and rebuild after experiencing violence. Our organization offers independent, medium-term accommodation for up to five families at a time.
About the Role
This position involves facilitating a smooth transition for clients exiting our program by coordinating their move into a new property. This includes connecting them with local services such as RizeUp or Baby Give Back to ensure comprehensive assistance throughout their journey.
You will collaborate with referring agencies to identify potential tenants who are low risk and have minimal support needs. We evaluate and accept suitable referrals, providing assistance with the tenancy sign-up process.
You will also coordinate with our property manager to guarantee clients receive a quality high-standard service. Your responsibilities include ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks and sign-up processes, upholding proper adherence to our tenancy agreements, and maintaining up-to-date records through our client file system.
In addition, you will collaborate with our property team within DVConnect to ensure the sharing of information related to property maintenance and follow-up tasks are addressed appropriately.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in case management, particularly in domestic, family and intimate partner violence, sexual violence and abuse, child protection and/or residential support, or mental health
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or other relevant field(s)
- Knowledge of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence
- Understanding of Queensland Domestic Violence Legislations, specifically the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and engagement/consultation skills
- A commitment to social justice, DVConnect values and its role in delivering services to people impacted by violence and abuse
- A valid Blue Card and National Police Check or willingness to obtain
- The right to work in Australia with no restrictions
- A valid driver's license and reliable car - willing to travel occasionally when necessary
