Seeking an experienced Executive Officer.

**Your new company**
Join a department focused on protecting and improving the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving Australian funded aged care. On offer is an initial 6-month contract with extension options based in Brisbane CBD.

**Your new role**
You will report directly to the department head and be tasked with ensuring they receive comprehensive, high quality, effective executive and administrative support.
Duties will include:

- Oversee the efficient management of the office and lead, mentor and manage staff.
- Work closely and effectively with members of the executive leadership team and their direct reports.
- Manage key external stakeholder relationships and engagement.
- Lead and provide professional development for the executive assistant network across the department ensuring effective communication, coordination and collaboration.
- Develop and produce material including the drafting of meeting agendas and papers, reports, public presentations, correspondence, ministerial/parliamentary briefs and staff messages. This will include undertaking related research.
- Support the preparation of meetings, committee hearings, Senate Estimates and other Parliamentary hearings and media interview.
- Provide secretariat support including compiling the agenda, drafting and disseminating papers, taking minutes and following up actions.
- Contribute to the development of key corporate documents including corporate and operational plans, the annual report and briefing material for Senate Estimates and other Parliamentary hearings.
- Coordinate management and review of correspondence and ministerial requests requiring attention.
- Participate in project working groups and committees, as required.
- Represent the department in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Demonstrated experience in a similar public sector role.
- Proven capability to anticipate, analyse and assess issues in a timely manner and initiate action aimed at achieving desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with executives and a wide range of other staff across the organisation, and with external stakeholders.
- Strong track record of success in providing leadership and guidance to high performing teams in a complex, demanding environment.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate information accurately, concisely and with influence.
- Demonstrated competence in systems thinking with strong organisational skills including the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work under pressure and work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to travel interstate when required.
