Hays has partnered with a Federal Government organisation responsible for providing the Australian people with an independent electoral services. An exciting opportunity has been made for an EL1 Assistant Director, Finance and Procurement for a minimum of 6 months with the possibility to extend.

**Your new role**

As the Assistant Director, Finance and Procurement your main responsibility will be to lead the day-to-day work of the team which supports service delivery across Queensland and Northern Territory.

Key position responsibilities include:

- Lead and manage a team to ensure high quality outputs, including building team capability to ensure that compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve business processes and governance arrangements.
- Manage procurement and contract management processes.
- Manage the financial operations of the State Office through reporting, management of payments and funds, and monitoring of the financial position; Undertake planning for the following financial year including identifying required funds for planning, change projects, activities and procurement.
- Develop internal and external relationships, including collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- Provide high quality and timely analysis and advice internally and externally, including guidance and reporting to State leadership and the Senior Executive cohort including, Executive Leadership Team in relation to team/State functional responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in commerce, accounting, finance alike is highly desirable but not essential
- The ability to be politically neutral
- Be an Australian Citizen
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of public sector financial management frameworks and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to delivery high quality outcomes.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt and respond to rapid change and maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Have the ability to pass a National Criminal History Check
- Full class 'C' Driver's Licence

- Competitive salary of $106,255 - $119,739 + 15.4% Super.
