Maritime Sre Database Admin

The role
As part of our Maritime group, the Maritime SRE Database Admin will be a key member of our Team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems. Database Admin will collaborate with SRE, DevOps and Infrastructure Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our data infrastructure. Your expertise in database management will be crucial in maintaining data integrity, security, and performance. Monitoring, support, operation, change and documentation of development environment systems and tools will be additional activities.
- Design, install, and configure database systems based on business requirements and industry best practices
- Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure optimal response times and resource utilization
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patch installations
- Establish and enforce data security policies and access controls to protect sensitive information
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and data inconsistencies
- Perform regular capacity planning to ensure scalability and efficient resource allocation
- Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight) will be considered for this role._
About you
- Your skills and experience will include:_
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a related role.
- Strong proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.
- Knowledge of database design principles and normalization techniques.
- Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Familiarity with database backup and recovery techniques.
- Solid understanding of database security concepts and best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python) for automation and data manipulation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
