The Program Leader - Aquatic Operations is responsible for managing a team of Lifeguards, ensuring Lifeguards are trained and qualified to perform the duties of a Pool Lifeguard.

The position must ensure that facilities and services conform to the Guidelines to Safe Pool Operation (GSPO), Health Regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. The focus of the role is on developing processes and procedures to ensure a fun and safe aquatic environment for patrons and all staff. The incumbent will complete the Duty Manager shifts on a fortnightly rostered basis.

**About the Role
- Ensure Lifeguards deliver a high standard of pool deck supervision to all patrons.
- Provide inductions for all direct reports ensuring Lifeguards understand their roles and responsibilities while working for Darebin Council.
- Implement annual employee recruitment, selection, training, development and supervision.
- Ensure Lifeguard team members qualifications remain up to date.
- Provide roster and staffing levels that reflect the Centre’s supervision plan, meeting the Guidelines of Safe Pool Operation.
- Ensure that RLC employees and customers adhere to Centre’s conditions of entry.
- Ensure RLC Lifeguards are clearly identifiable and are presented in the correct uniform.
- Implement lifesaving Victoria’s Watch around Water policy, including conducting ongoing training for all staff.

**Skills & Experience**
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of Pool Plant and general maintenance operations and procedures.
- Understanding of Pool Water Testing and how to correct unbalanced water.
- Demonstrate competencies with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
- Ability to build relationships with community groups, clubs and key stakeholders.
- Understanding of RLSSA’s Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation (GSPO).
