About the Role

  • Display an alert, attentive, pleasant and professional manner at all times
  • Maintain constant supervision of all pools, action rescues and emergency interventions in accordance with the Centre's rules/polices, and RLSSA Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation
  • Ensure that the highest safety standards are always maintained and eliminate hazards and risks where possible
  • Constant scanning of the pool areas, including the Spa, Sauna and Steam Room
  • Educate patrons on pool safety awareness and child supervision requirements (Watch Around Water).
  • Ensure that rules and policies set out by the Centre are adhered to by clientele (in doing so ensure that high customer service skills are maintained throughout the course of action)
  • Ensure that high levels of cleanliness are maintained throughout the course of the shift by adhering to daily check lists and conducting hourly change room checks.
  • Maintain a hygienic and hazard free environment both on and off the pool deck
  • Ensure that all incidents, accidents or any other reports are properly dealt with, documented and passed onto the relevant Duty Manager and Team Leader
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, and ensure all patron conflicts are dealt with in a polite and professional manner
  • Ensure that appropriate behavior is met by all patrons in accordance with the Centre's Conditions of Entry.

Skills & Experience

  • Sound Emergency Management, Rescue Skills and First Aid Skills (all qualifications to be current and up to date and sent to Program Leader)
  • Sound knowledge of the facility, its day to day operations, emergency procedures and ability to manage appropriate course of action
  • Attendance to regular meetings and inservice trainings, keeping up to date with internal communications, industry updates, requirements of the role, and/or any updates and changes.
  • Skills in managing one's own time and shifts, setting priorities, planning and organising work around other commitments
  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures and regulations
  • Possess ability to adapt to changing working environments, shortage of Staff, and assist other colleagues with workload where possible, ensuring a teamwork approach
