- Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager, Corporate Development will lead the company's strategic initiatives, focusing on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate strategy, industry analysis, forecasting and financial planning.

This role is instrumental in shaping the company's growth trajectory, managing high-impact projects, and ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives. The role also involves overseeing the preparation and release of financial results and strategic announcements to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

- Lead and manage the end-to-end M&A process: target identification, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration.
- Develop and expand relationships with investment bankers, consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board based on thorough due diligence.
- Oversee the Group’s annual strategic review process and coordinate the annual strategy day.
- Collaborate with divisional leaders to define and refine strategic objectives and long-term goals.
- Develop and execute corporate strategy initiatives for sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
- In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) prepare bi-annual results announcements for ASX, including operational overview and strategic insights.
- Prepare ASX releases as required, including AGM materials and investor day presentations ensuring accurate and timely disclosures.
- Provide strategic and operational support to various divisions on major projects and initiatives.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration to achieve project milestones and objectives.
- Track and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to the ELT.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning.
- Prepare budget papers for the Board in collaboration with the finance team.
- Support the CFO in financial reporting and management of financial performance metrics.
- Maintain and update building activity forecasts and insights for strategic planning and budgeting.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis for the CEO and senior executives to inform strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to identify opportunities and risks.

**Success Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in management consultancy or in a corporate strategy, M&A role (with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role).
- Proven track record of successful M&A transactions and management of strategic projects.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial & industry analysis to translate market trends. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modelling.
- An excellent strategic thinker with superior analytical skills, adaptability, and flexibility to navigate diverse business environments and unforeseen challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable presenting at Board and senior executive levels.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills to lead cross-functional teams.
