Overview
GF Piping Systems Australia & New Zealand is seeking a driven and technically minded Business Development Manager (BDM) – Fabrication to join our team in Brendale, Queensland, Australia.
In this role, you'll identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities for our engineering services and fabricated industrial & utility piping systems.
You'll build strong, long-term customer relationships across mining, water infrastructure, utilities, and industrial sectors.
About the Role
GF is seeking a driven and technically minded Business Development Manager (BDM) – Fabrication to join our team.
In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities for our engineering services and fabricated industrial & utility piping systems.
You'll build strong, long-term customer relationships across mining, water infrastructure, utilities, and industrial sectors.
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
5+ years' experience in business development, technical sales, or account management within fabrication.
Ability to think creatively and drive new opportunities.
Proven success in securing and managing large industrial or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of piping systems, fabrication processes, and plastic welding techniques (Butt Fusion, Electrofusion, Socket Fusion) is highly advantageous.
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development – Identify and pursue opportunities in fabrication markets.
Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company goals.
Sales & Growth – Prepare proposals, quotations, and tender submissions; support negotiations to close profitable deals.
Technical Expertise – Provide product/service recommendations based on engineering principles; stay updated on welding technologies, industry trends, and competitor activities.
Account Management – Act as the main customer contact for projects, managing timelines, costings, and updates while maintaining long-term partnerships.
Internal Collaboration – Work closely with the Fabrication team to ensure seamless project delivery.
Contribute to cost estimations, material recommendations, and compliance with industry standards.
