What you will be doing:

A temporary full time Clerical Coordinator position is available at Nepean Hospital.

The role of the Clerical Coordinator is to provide leadership and management of all aspects of the Nepean Hospital Switchboard Department and Nepean Hospital Patient Enquiry service.

The Clerical Coordinator oversees functions and staff to ensure a customer focused and efficient patient information, telephony and emergency response service is provided for Nepean Hospital and the community it serves.

To provide efficient and effective communication services to Nepean Hospital by ensuring:

  • Incoming phone calls are answered promptly and transferred to the relevant department
  • All emergency calls are responded to and escalated as required (e.g. Medical Emergency response teams and Fire Brigade)
  • All information related to patient discharges and transfers is accurately entered into the iPM database
  • The paging database is kept up to date
  • All rosters are up to date
  • All contact details for departments and staff are up to date

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Experience in the supervision and management of staff
  • Understanding of rostering practices for shift workers and aligning them to service needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and maintaining a patientcentred service
  • Ability to determine priorities for others, allocate tasks, motivate, coach and monitor work performance of staff to achieve work objectives
  • Ability to make clear and concise decisions, learn and create new process and implement procedures / quality improvements to support the business needs
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey messages and built rapport as well as prepare accurate and concise reports, documents and correspondence including the preparation complex correspondence for senior managers
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills whilst managing competing work priorities in a complex work environment
  • Ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks including use of wide variety of databases and the ability to compile reports
