Our Energy and Sustainability Services Division is the world leader in energy procurement, sustainability strategy & transformation, and energy efficiency, with over 35 years' experience of helping clients reduce their energy spend & achieve their business and sustainability goals.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Client Energy Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. Based in Melbourne reporting to our Director of Client Management.

The Client Energy Manager (CEM) is responsible for owning the client relationship, building and growing our services to clients, and is accountable for ensuring all services are delivered to a standard that meets client expectations. In addition, as an ambassador and representative of Schneider Electric, upholding our values in all external activities with clients as well as performing as a leader internally.

The position requires someone that thrives in a client focused environment. Management and emotional intelligence skills and as an autonomous role you must be a self motivator. The role requires general knowledge of energy, sustainability and efficiency themes. The successful candidate will be required to work with multiple subject matter experts within Sustainability Business to deliver our services effectively to clients across Australia and APAC.

The day to day:

At Schneider Electric, no two days are the same however typical activities that the Client Energy Manager will carry out include:

  • Operate autonomously across a portfolio of clients. Will be accountable for renewals of contracts and cross sells of services
  • Developing strategies to ensure contract renewal and cross sell will be critical to success
  • Will be a central point of contact for all internal queries and questions in relation to service delivery for clients
  • Will be an internal leader and will develop a broad network across Sustainability Business
  • Undertake regular client meetings and presentations.
  • Extensive meeting preparation will be required and will be responsible for presenting to diverse stakeholders in one-on-one and one-to-many situations
  • Directly responsible for ensuring client satisfaction
  • Take ownership of client problems and assist them in resolving issues
  • Conflict resolution will be useful in managing issues that occur between large organisations
  • Discuss all aspects of Active Energy Management and our services
  • Required to articulate to clients the benefits of our services across our domains including Procurement, Data Management, Energy Efficiency, Renewables and Sustainability
  • Assist in writing bespoke reports and preparation and delivery of KPIs relating to our contracts and services
  • Preparation of proposals to our clients including the request and collation of costs from multiple internal stakeholders and responsibility for ensuring margin capture
  • Comfortable in using data and software to support service delivery and thought leadership with clients

About You:

We don’t want to narrow the field; however, we do believe that the skills needed to be successful in this role include;

  • Basic knowledge of the Australian Energy Industry;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Energy, Business, Finance, Engineering, Sustainability or a related fields;
  • 3-8+ years of experience managing complex, high-stakes projects involving the highest organizational levels of large corporations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to track contract and projects requirements for multiple projects in diverse areas
  • Ability to initiate, establish, navigate, and nurture relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, with the ability to address obstacles and manage through conflict in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, analyses and ideas in a concise, effective manner to the intended audience
  • High commitment to company vision, values and excellent customer service
  • Business Development experience in building successful strategies to cross sell services and retain revenue
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience techniques and understanding
  • Supported or led a team of individuals in an energy, sustainability, efficiency or related area within a large organisation or a consulting group

Desirable:

  • An understanding of corporate sustainability and reporting on corporate sustainability within large and complex organistions.
  • Experience with leveraging big data to identify opportunities to cross sell services or increase revenue.
  • Experience directing the work of project teams or managing people.
  • Previous experience in Australian or APAC energy markets.
  • Previous experience working in energy or sustainability roles in a large organisation
  • Analytical self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in English required, additional languages beneficial (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or other)
  • Comfortable presenting in front of groups of people on a regular and ongoing basis
