About You
The Coordinator, Major Research Initiatives, supports the identification, development and delivery of opportunities for RMIT researchers to partner with end-users (commercial, not-for-profit, government and universities) to improve and increase the impact of RMIT’s research outcomes. The coordinator is responsible for the coordination of research grant schemes such as Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) and supports ongoing long-term relationships with RMIT’s external partners.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the development of projects and grants involving industry, government and/ or universities;
  • Experience in interpreting external competitive research funding scheme rules, reviewing funding applications against these rules and relaying feedback to applicants; 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with researchers and with research end users. Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders; 
  • Highly developed customer relations, interpersonal and written communication skills, particularly in an advisory capacity and a demonstrated ability to use judgement; 
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships, liaise, engage and work collaboratively with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a high volume, high demand role, requiring strong problem solving and analytical skills, flexibility and the ability to monitor and progress multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values and professional capability framework;

Research Partnerships and Translation

Part of the Research and Innovation Portfolio, Research Partnerships and Translation supports and enables researchers to partner to achieve excellent research translation outcomes. Research Partnerships and Translation also oversees intellectual property capture, protection and commercialisation for the university. Major Research Initiatives sits within the Research Partnerships and Translation Unit and is responsible for the development of collaborative grant applications and relationship management for RMIT within strategic consortium.
