About the opportunity
At Bolton Clarke, “Always safe” is a foundational value. In this position, you will support the team delivering workers’ compensation self-insurance services for our QLD sites and optimise systems, processes and governance to maintain recognition as a high performing self-insurer.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor a small team of claims advisors, ensuring optimal self-insurance team functioning and outcomes.
- Act as a senior reviewer for QLD self-insurance claims.
- Providing guidance and coaching to ensure accurate and timely processing of entitlements and effective claims management strategies.
- Review and analyse data to inform continuous improvement initiatives and positively influence claims management strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance self-insurance program efficiency and optimise injury management outcomes for our valued employees.
- Conduct regular audits of claims processes, identifying positive performance and opportunities for streamlining and improvement.
- Manage and engage with service providers to ensure effectiveness, efficiencies and optimal rehabilitation and return to work outcomes.
- Assist with active management of claims (coverage during leave periods with potential for a small portfolio of cases)

You are a positive role model with a proactive approach for delivering exceptional customer service, with experience in leading a small to medium sized team and a sound understanding of Queensland workers compensation legislation and its application, ideally in a self-insurance environment.
- Relevant qualifications in claims management, case management, allied health, leadership/management and/or extensive experience in this industry would be highly regarded.
- Proven experience within the QLD workers’ compensation scheme (preferably with exposure to a self-insured environment), ideally with end-to-end management of statutory claims.
- Strong leadership experience, including mentoring teams and managing complex claims.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency in time management and handling multiple priorities in a large organization.
