**About the team**:
The Workforce Planning and Capability team supports the department by developing workforce solutions either through recruitment, leadership development, talent or performance management, or through a combination of these approaches, to meet the department's current and future needs. Working in partnership across the branch, division and department, the team provides services and advice on strategic and operational workforce planning, workforce analysis, classification management and departmental strategic projects. The team offers the department a high level of expertise and is forward-looking in its focus, as well as providing day to day support in resolving emerging operational issues. The operating environment is diverse and varied, and a high level of consultation is required to identify and address stakeholder needs.

We are seeking a motivated human resources professional, who has knowledge and experience in delivering people solutions that address the current strategic talent landscape. A strong understanding of modern trends in talent management, the ability to interpret workforce data in the strategic context, and work constructively with senior executives is highly desirable.

The key areas of knowledge, skill and ability for this position are:

- excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to bring a customer service focus to the delivery of workforce planning functions

- effective problem solving and critical thinking skills to exercise sound judgment in consideration of immediate and long-term issues
- the ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build an effective, positive, and collaborative team

**What you will do**:
The Workforce Planning Assistant Manager leads the development and delivery of the department's workforce planning strategies and activities.

As the Workforce Planning Assistant Manager you would be responsible for:

- Maturing the department's strategic workforce planning function, including the management and monitoring of initiatives and projects that arise from workforce planning activities.
- Managing the yearly operational workforce planning process conducted across the department.
- Managing and consulting with the Senior Executive, managers and other relevant stakeholders with the aim of building workforce planning capability.
- Providing efficient analysis of workforce data to provide insights, and monitors progress against both operational and strategic workforce targets.
- Leading a small team responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to mature the department's workforce planning capability and related outcomes.
- Providing expert policy and strategic advice to guide the department's workforce planning activities, strategic agenda and projects.
- Preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence, briefs and documentation.
- Maintaining a detailed understanding of the broader labour market and monitor external developments in policy and practice that may have an impact on the department's future capability needs and workforce planning activities.
